Who we are?

Curriculum Development and Research is part of the VET Teaching and Learning Directorate of the Western Australian Department of Education and Training.

There are 5 Branches within the VET Teaching and Learning Directorate:
  • Curriculum Development and Research
  • Programs and Development
  • Access and Equity
  • VET in Schools
  • TAFEWA Admissions

What we do?

The role of Curriculum Development and Research:
  • Responsible for the State implementation of the National Training Framework which includes the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF), Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), and Training Packages across the Western Australian VET sector.
  • Develop Purchasing Guides to the implementation of nationally recognised curriculum products including Training Packages and accredited courses.
  • Coordinate participation in the development and review of policy in relation to nationally recognised training.
  • Information management in relation to curriculum through the State Training and Recognition System (STARS).
  • Provide direct assistance to TAFEWA through the production of the TAFEWA Full Time Studies Guide, the maintenance of minimum entrance requirements and selection criteria.
  • Develop, implement and provide support for adult literacy initiatives through the Adult Literacy Unit.
