AQTF 2007

The Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) has been revised tp improve the quality of training and assessment in the VET sector, with changes coming in to effect from 1 July 2007.

TVET Australia

TVET Australia is a ministerial company, owned by the Commonwealth, State and Territory Ministers for Training, which is committed to the provision of high quality services that support the ongoing development of the National Training System.

TVET Australia website hosts the sites for the National Quality Council (NQC), the National Industry Skills Committee (NISC) and TVET Product Services.

The NQC website provides valuable information and useful Council documents, while featuring the NQC Work Plan and a section dedicated to the AQTF 2007.

The NISC website contains the Committee’s Work Plan as well as comprehensive information on its roles, functions, membership and representation. Later in the year, the website will feature an interactive Online Workforce Development Tool and a series of short papers which will provide an industry perspective on future directions for VET.

The new TVET Product Services website connects clients of VET with thousands of training products on one website. The TVET Product Services site brings together the offerings of ATPL and AEShareNet in one place.

AEShareNet

The site for obtaining a copyright license. Also contains a substantial list of training materials on a database according to their copyright licence classification. Possible to locate suitable materials from the site and information about them, but not to access the materials themselves. In the near future, many items will be linked to a point of sale.

The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)

This website provides details on the Australian Qualifications Framework. You can find information on VET for schools, learning pathways, quality assurance, RPL principles and more. Also links to the AQF Advisory Board (AQFAB).

Australian Training Products Limited (ATPL)

National bookshop for training materials directly linked to Training Packages, and pre-dating Training Packages. Largest holdings across all industries. Can shop online from the web catalogue or order by phone. Can also supply CD versions of older materials that customers may find useful.

Curriculum Corporation

Website holds full text of the nations VET in Schools products available and downloadable free. Links to OZJAC, Le@rning Federation and TAFE sites.

Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST)

Good place for information about careers (http://www.myfuture.gov.au), international vocational education (http://aei.detya.gov.au)

Provides information on Departmental programs and services and links to the TAFEWA handbook, TAFEWA colleges, Training Info Centre and more.

Educational Network Australia - EdNa VET

Extensive database of materials and valuable links to other sites. A very good source of materials that complement of supplement national materials. Calls itself one of the largest educational websites in the world.

Australian Flexible Learning Framework

Contains materials on issues relating to flexible e-learning initiatives. Also full text of reports that contain information about access to flexible learning resources.

Multimedia flexible learning resources. Information about them, samplers and how to use.

Assessing Online provides practical tips and tools for VET professionals on how to assess learners online. This free site includes checklists and templates, sample assessment strategies, start to finish case studies as well as a detailed overview of the key tasks and choices involved in all stages of assessment

VET Portal

In development. Will become central web gateway and phone advisory service to VET information - initially aimed at business customers

Australia's national vocational education and training research and development centre

NCVER is responsible for the collection of national VET statistics and for managing employer, student and graduate surveys relating to VET outcomes and performance.

NTIS C/- Curriculum Corporation

Contains a database of all units of competency and all endorsed Training Packages - full text available. National Register of qualifications and Training Organisations. Contains listings of training support materials that meet ANTA quality criteria - full text of support materials not available, but source is indicated.

Pearson Education

Site supporting a suite of materials on the Frontline Management qualifications and competencies. These are nationally owned training materials distributed under exclusive licence by Pearson Education. Also Pearson has a catalogue of its own VET products.

Resource Generator

A web based library of training resources that can be downloaded free. Also enables adaptation of existing materials and creation of new resources from templates provided. Enables development of training plans. Offers a broad range of materials in a small number of industries, but otherwise limited by range of materials available.

Supporting Adult & Applied Learning & Teaching (Formerly Adult Education Resources and Information Service (ARIS)

Publications on database, searchable and for sale. Specialises in English language literacy and numeracy. Includes practical teaching resources and contains training materials from the Workplace English Language and Literacy Program.

TAFEWA

TAFEWA is the most popular post secondary study option for Western Australians.

Training Accreditation Council

Provides information on the registration of training providers, accreditation of courses, recognition of skills qualifications, and provides a range of publications relevant to delivery and assessment of VET. The Council is part of a national system - each State/Territory has a similar organisation. (hyperlink to other state webs via NTIS)

Training Packages @ Work

A free resource for teachers, trainers and assessors in the VET sector. Published monthly and features the latest information on the development and implementation of training packages. You can also subscribe to "Get Back 2 Basics", a collection of articles providing basic information for people starting out in the VET sector. www.tpatwork.com/back2basics

VET Training Gateway

Provides easy to understand explanations of the vocational education and training system, including apprenticeships and traineeships, registered training organisations, courses and qualifications.

WestOne Services

Holds learning, teaching and assessment resources as well as professional development resources in a variety of media to support flexible learning. Also available are: Toolboxes - interactive eLearning material, eKits - customisable online learning resources, eTrain - specialises in the professional development of teaching staff, focusing on online teaching.
