Purpose
The Curriculum Support Services Network (CSSN) Centres have been funded by the Department of Education & Training in Western Australia (WADET) to establish a communication link between WADET and the Vocational Education & Training (VET) curriculum stakeholders statewide.

ServicesThe Vocational Education & Training (VET) curriculum has been divided into three main areas: |

Each CSSN Centre is responsible for keeping the VET stakeholders within their portfolio informed of changes or updates to Training Packages, Purchasing Guides and Courses.
Current information regarding curriculum support materials and professional development is regularly sent through the network. Alternatively stakeholders can access curriculum support information through their relevant CSSN Centre.
The WADET allocates an annual grant of additional funding that can be accessed through the CSSN for the development of curriculum support materials or resources.

Curriculum Advisory Groups
Curriculum Advisory Groups (CAGs) representing the VET sector statewide have been established to meet and discuss curriculum related issues or concerns within subject or industry areas. Membership includes representation from industry, private training providers, TAFEWA Colleges, Industry Training Councils and other interested stakeholders. Notes taken at each meeting are distributed via email to the relevant wider circulation group and feedback is encouraged.
All stakeholders are welcome to join the network or nominate a representative by contacting the relevant CSSN.

PURPOSE
The purpose of a Curriculum Advisory Group is to identify and address curriculum issues related to its specific learning area and to provide feedback to the Department of Education & Training (DET) through the relevant CSSN. Its major role is to provide a regular forum for educational practitioners and industry representatives to collaboratively discuss matters of mutual interest, resolve issues and plan future projects.

FOCUS
The focus is to:
- encourage a collaborative statewide network of Vocational Education & Training (VET) providers and industry stakeholders
- foster increased knowledge and awareness of industry needs or perspectives and communicate this information within the learning area and to DET.
- disseminate information to both private and public Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) on the evaluation, maintenance, professional development requirements, implementation and review of Training Packages and Accredited Courses.
- provide support for trainers and assessors through a collaborative network
- assist with and collaboratively respond to VET initiatives.

TERMS OF REFERENCE
- Provide input and feedback on the evaluation, review, maintenance and implementation of Training Packages and Accredited Courses
- Identify and respond to staff development issues and needs
- Encourage and facilitate industry involvement and input
- Identify and prioritise appropriate collaborative CAG activities
- Monitor and advise on effective and efficient use of teaching and learning resources.

ROLE OF THE CHAIRPERSON
- Assist in convening and organising meetings, in collaboration with the CSSN Portfolio Officer.
- Chair CAG meetings
- Coordinate CAG activities
- Act as a representative for the learning or industry area at forums and meetings or state and national committees
- Provide information and guidance to CAG members
- Liaise with CSSN Executive Officers and Portfolio Officers on a regular basis regarding training or industry issues.

ROLE OF CSSN OFFICERS
- In liaison with CAG chair and members, organise agenda for meetings
- Organise venues for meetings/seminars/workshops and associated resources and catering as needed
- Take action statements at meetings and circulate to RTOs and stakeholders and put these statements on the VETinfoNet website
- Follow up on actions from meetings
- Coordinate prioritisation of CSSN curriculum projects
- Assist with responses to VET initiatives on a State and national level on behalf of the CAGs
- Provide information to CAG members
- Assist with the facilitation of Graded Performance moderation activities where applicable

ROLE OF MODERATION OFFICERS
The three metropolitan TAFEWA colleges (Swan, Central and Challenger) accommodating a Curriculum Support Services Network (CSSN) have now appointed a Moderation Officer whose key responsibilities will be to:
- develop, manage and facilitate a moderation and validation workshop program, for private and public RTOs, industry, regulators and associations, in collaboration with the CSSN;
- implement strategies for engaging industry and regulators in validation and moderation process within the scope of operations of the CSSN;
- develop a plan to implement strategies for validation and moderation of assessment for Training Package qualifications and units of competency, in areas of greatest risk, for industry areas managed by the CSSN;
- research, develop and implement strategies to achieve consistency of training and assessment standards across the WA vocational education and training (VET) sector; and
- promote continuous improvement of teaching methodology and learning resources

ROLE OF CAG MEMBERS
- Participate in the CAG meetings as a representative of the relevant RTO/Industry organisation
- Contribute to the effective performance of the CAG
- Disseminate CAG information to other relevant stakeholders in own organisation
- Complete relevant actions prior to meetings or by effective date
- Act as CAG representatives at State/national forums and conferences (as required)
- Act as the RTO/Stakeholder reference person for CAG activities
- Disseminate skills/knowledge gained at forums or conferences to other RTO and CAG members, as per agreement with the CSSN.

CSSN Management
Each of the three CSSN Centres is monitored by their own management groups. Representatives on these groups may include TAFEWA college managing directors, directors, area managers and program area leaders. These groups monitor and approve financial statements and reports and provide strategic advice to the CSSN Centres.
