VET Workforce and Curriculum Development Program 2009

Each year the Department of Education and Training allocates funding for projects. The purpose of the VET Workforce and Curriculum Development Program is to increase the capacity and capability of the VET workforce to deliver programs that are innovative, flexible and workplace oriented. It will also support an increase in the proportion of non-classroom based delivery and will enable users of the system to access training that suits their individual needs. The strategic priorities for VET workforce and curriculum development in 2009 are as follows:

  1. Increasing and improving provision of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
  2. Developing innovative and new models of delivery and assessment including workplace delivery and assessment
  3. Increasing delivery of higher level qualifications
  4. Engaging younger learners
  5. Improving practitioners’ technical skills

All applications for funding must respond to a minimum of one strategic priority. There are six strands of activity. These are as follows:

STRAND 1 - RESPONSIVE AND FLEXIBLE TRAINING (RAFT) - $1.0 Million (submissions up to $150,000 inc. GST)
STRAND 2 - WORK BASED DELIVERY OF HIGHER LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS - $800,000 (submissions up to $150,000 inc. GST)
STRAND 3 – VET SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - $200,000 (submissions up to $10,000 inc. GST)
STRAND 4 - RPL ASSESSMENT TOOL DEVELOPMENT - $500, 000 (submissions up to $20,000 inc. GST)
