VET in Schools

Who we are and what we do?

VET in Schools is part of the VET Teaching and Learning Directorate and is responsible for the development and implementation of policies and practices relevant to vocational education in schools. Specific priorities we have include:

  • Getting schools new to VET in Schools involved in programs;
  • Expanding the range of VET in Schools programs across industry areas;
  • Establishing VET in Schools programs in new industry areas;
  • Increase VET in Schools participation of students groups that are difficult to reach and/or service;
  • Developing strategies to maintain quality standards in VET in Schools including professional development;
  • Increasing student participation in School Based Traineeships and Apprenticeships;
  • Address areas of skills shortages.

In 2007/8, as part of the VET Teaching and Learning Operational Plan, we will be focussing on

  • Quality VET outcomes for students
  • Enhanced pathways for students
  • Supporting the capacity of the sector to provide quality VET programs for students
  • Develop and manage partnerships between schools, RTOs, Industry and communities
