The Curriculum Council is responsible for setting curriculum policy directions for kindergarten to year 12 schooling in Western Australia.

The Curriculum Council provides information for schools delivering VET in the form of:

  • A list of approved qualifications for delivery, including their units of competency and nominal hours;
  • Details on Structured Work Place Learning (SWL) and how to integrate units of competency into SWL;
  • VET registration.

Extensive database of materials and valuable links to other sites. A very good source of materials that complement of supplement national materials. Calls itself one of the largest educational websites in the world.

National Training Information System (NTIS)

Contains a database of all units of competency and all endorsed Training Packages - full text available. National Register of qualifications and Training Organisations. Contains listings of training support materials that meet ANTA quality criteria - full text of support materials not available, but source is indicated.

National Vocational Education and Training Research (NCVER)

Australia's national vocational education and training research and development centre. NCVER is responsible for the collection of national VET statistics and for managing employer, student and graduate surveys relating to VET outcomes and performance.

Resource Generator

A web based library of training resources that can be downloaded free. Also enables adaptation of existing materials and creation of new resources from templates provided. Enables development of training plans. Offers a broad range of materials in a small number of industries, but otherwise limited by range of materials available.

This website provides details on the Australian Qualifications Framework. You can find information on VET for schools, learning pathways, quality assurance, RPL principles and more. Also links to the AQF Advisory Board (AQFAB).

Training Accreditation Council (TAC)

The Training Accreditation Council (TAC) is responsible for the registration of training providers, including schools who wish to register as an RTO for the purposes of VET for School Students delivery, the accreditation of VET courses and compliance with the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTO).

VETNETwork is the Vocational Education and Training Network, an Australian network of teachers, trainers, program co-ordinators, administrative and support personnel committed to vocational education and training in schools. The website contains the On-line newsletter VETNETWORKER which gives a good snapshot of the recent evolution of VET in Schools.

The portal was developed in conjunction with state and territory training authorities and the Australian National Training Authority. The TAFE website has information on courses, qualification requirements and enrolment advice for all TAFE courses in Western Australia.
