A Guide to SIS VET

This guide has been developed to help users work effectively with the SIS VET Module. It is a supplementary resource to the SIS VET Manual and is designed to be used as a web-based document. It is strongly advised that the user complete the SIS VET Training Course (2 days) as a minimum to get started and that the VET Advanced I & II (one day each) are also completed when the user has started using the module.

SIS VET Updates

The following documents are for use with the SIS VET module. Click on the titles to download the documents.

The ANZSCO and Field of Education codes require updating. You will not be able to undertake the import until your school has completed the SIS Major Upgrade. To check if this has occurred, open SIS, choose Help from the menu and then System Information. If the VET version is NOT 1.70.02 then your school has not completed the upgrade and is not ready for the import.

The VET in Schools Database was created to assist VET in Schools with keeping up to date records of key stakeholders within schools engaged in VET.

There can sometimes be a lot of information being sent to schools regarding VET updates and important information. As the database is able to store contact details for the various roles, you will start to see targeted and relevant communications linked to your job role.

For instructions on accessing and using the database, download the document below.

Work Readiness Skills Manual

This Manual is intended to assist in the preparation of school students for their first work-placement. It is recognition that many students are not work place ready and lack the skills and knowledge to successfully complete such a placement.

The total manual consists of a package of four books and a video, which can be used in its entirety or individual parts. These PDF documents provide an electronic version of the books that can be downloaded for school use.

The Manual has particular relevance for students who are at risk of leaving school early due to:

  • Poor academic performance and/or learning difficulties
  • Dysfunctional behaviour
  • Non-attendance
  • Social and emotional issues
  • Health issues
As such, it is designed for those students who have not yet reached the stage of being able to realistically determine post-school options.
